For Salat al-Istikhara, perform Wudu before starting the Istikhara Nafl. You can perform Salat al-Istikhara at any time, except during the prohibited times for prayers that are Fajr until sunrise or after Asr until sunset. However, the most recommended time is after Isha Namaz. After Isha Namaz, perform two Nafl with the intention of Istikhara. Upon completing the Salat al-Istikhara, recite the following dua.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ شَرٌّ فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ وَاقْدُرْ لِيَ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ ارْضِنِي بِهِ
Allahumma innee astakheeruka bi ‘ilmika wa astaqdiruka bi qadratika wa as’aluka min fadlika al-’adheem fa innaka taqdiru wa la aqdiru wa ta’lamu wa la a’lamu wa anta ‘allaam ul-ghuyoob. Allahumma in kunta ta’lamu anna haadha al-amra khayrun lee fee deenee wa ma’aashee wa ‘aaqibati amree faqdurhu lee wa yassirhu lee thumma baarik lee feehi wa in kunta ta’lamu anna haadha al-amara sharrun lee fee deenee wa ma’aashee wa ‘aaqibati amree fasrifhu ‘annee wasrifnee ‘anhu waqdur lee al-khayra haythu kaana thumma ardinee bih

Akhtar Bhai mein Namazi nai hu lekin mein ye Salat al Istikhara karna chahta hu tu kia me ye kar sakta hu?
Akhtar BhaiG haan g bilkul, ap Salat al-Istikhara kar sakte hain. Namaz na parhne ka matlab ye nahi ke ap Allah se mashwara nahi le sakte. Istikhara ka asal maqsad Allah se behtareen rehnumai talab karna hai. Ap tauba kar ke, ache irade ke sath, ikhlas ke sath Istikhara kar sakte hain. Lekin agar ap regular namaz bhi shuru kar dein tu ye aur bhi acha hoga kyunki namaz har maslay ka hal aur Allah ka qurb hasil karne ka tareeqa hai. Allah ap ki rehnumai farmaye.

After performing Salat al-Istikhara, how do I know the result? and what are the outcomes of this Istikhara Dua?
After the Salat al-Istikhara, mostly some people do see a dream, but it is not necessary and it does not mean that you will definitely see one. Basically, the result of Istikhara appears in how things happen afterward. If the matter is good for you, Allah will open the path for it. Things will become easier, necessary steps will fall into place smoothly, and opportunities will start appearing naturally. You may feel that matters are moving forward without unnecessary struggle. If the matter is not good for you, then unexpected obstacles will arise. Things may repeatedly get delayed, plans may fail, or circumstances may change in a way that stops you from going forward. This is Allah way of protecting you and preventing you from making a wrong decision.

I’ve a query, when people do istikhara and still things go wrong way even after having good isharay in istikhara what would you say about it? Like I’ve seen people getting amazing istikhara related specific proposal but in reality their marriages becomes nightmare. What would you call it? Azmaish?
Istikhara is not a guarantee that everything will turn out perfectly. It is a dua asking Allah to guide you toward what is ultimately best for you even if it does not feel that way later on. Sometimes what we take as a good sign can also be our own interpretation. And even when things seem to go smoothly after Istikhara life can still bring tests and challenges. So if a marriage later becomes difficult it does not mean the Istikhara was wrong because it just help you make a decision with trust in Allah but it does not promise an easy or problem free outcome of your decision.
