Yes, Wazifa is Halal in Islam as long as it is performed within the boundaries of Islamic principles. Reciting Quranic verses, making Duas, and doing Dhikr with a clean heart are ways to seek help from Allah. However, any Wazifa that includes shirkya words, or practices that contradict Islamic teachings, such as asking for help from anyone other than Allah in a Wazifa is Haram.
One evening after Maghrib prayer, I approached to the local scholar, Sheikh Bilal, with a question that had been bothering me for a long time and I asked him, “Sheikh, is doing Wazifa halal in Islam?” He smiled warmly and said, “Yes, it is halal indeed if done the right way. Wazifa simply means reciting verses from the Quran or names of Allah with sincere intention. It’s a form of dhikr for remembrance of Allah.”I nodded, but asked, “What about people who say it’s innovation or it is a symbol like magic?”The Sheikh Bilal replied to me that, “It becomes a problem only when people make things up without knowing anything and without any basis in Islam. But if the Wazifa comes from the Quran or Sunnah and is done with trust in Allah, then it’s not just allowed but it’s a beautiful act of worship.” That day, I walked away with peace in my heart to knowing that actual Wazifa, done with sincerity and within Islamic guidance, is indeed halal.
